YouTube introduced the unlisted videos option in 2010 (previously there were just public and private options). Unlisted videos won’t appear in the search results (except in playlists) and won't appear in the uploader’s channel. Unlisted videos can however be watched by anyone who has a link to the video or access to a webpage embedding the video. The unlisted option is often used by major accounts (celebrities, musicians, big businesses etc.) for videos such as: live performances, behind the scenes videos, and hard to find Easter eggs.

Unlisted Videos is a website developed by New Zealand company, Statistical Consultants Ltd, that allows its users to submit, search, and watch unlisted YouTube videos. That is:

  • Submit – Users can submit the URL of an unlisted YouTube video along with the descriptive info. Unlisted Videos automatically checks to see if it is an unlisted YouTube video, and if it is unlisted (and the necessary info has been filled out), it is submitted to the website. Registration is not required for submitting video URLs.
  • Search – The submitted unlisted YouTube videos can be searched for via the website's online search function. Clicking on YouTube channel/uploader names and keyword tags, will also take the user to a set of search results.
  • Watch – Each successfully submitted unlisted video has a webpage on the Unlisted Videos website. The video pages will either have that video embedded or if embedding isn't permitted, a link to the video on YouTube. The video pages will also have info such as a title and description, clickable keyword tags, date of upload (to YouTube), date of submission (to Unlisted Videos), and a clickable YouTube account user name (to see what other submitted unlisted videos are available from that user).

Unlisted Videos have rules and guidelines aimed at preventing copyright infringements and privacy breaches. In most cases, the unlisted videos of celebrities, musicians, big businesses etc., are permitted; but the unlisted videos of the average person aren't.

I don’t think many of websites provide this type of information.
